Name: Damage Care Repair Conditioner
Brand: L’Oreal Elvive
From L’Oreal’s website:
Elvive Damage Care Conditioner fills in gaps, seals damaged hair fibres, leaving it feeling silky and soft. Helps repair damaged hair, enriched with a replica of one of hair’s natural ceramides.
What I liked:
– creamy consistency, spreads easily
– leaves hair soft and shiny
– makes hair easy to manage and style
– the scent
– the packaging
What I didn’t like:
– doesn’t leave hair less prone to breakage
– can’t repair damaged hair
When it comes to hair products, I like to stick to what works. And for me, that’s L’Oreal Elvive Nutri Gloss Conditioner. Unfortunately, the last time I went to the supermarket, they had run out of it and I was forced to pick up something else. My eye fell on the bright yellow bottle of L’Oreal Elvive Damage Care Repair Conditioner and, even though my hair isn’t damaged, I thought I’d give it a go anyway. After all, nothing can repair damaged hair (once hair is damaged, it is damaged for good), but that doesn’t mean that it can’t improve the appearance of hair, right?
The conditioner is white in color and has a creamy consistency that spreads easily throughout the whole length of my hair. It also has a lovely and not overpowering scent. It’s a blend of citrus and flowery notes that smells nice and refreshing, and hangs around for the entire day. The conditioner leaves my hair soft, shiny and easy to manage. My hair gets knotty easily, especially after washing, but this conditioner leaves it easy to comb and style. Overall, it did improve the appearance of my hair, even if just temporarily.
The conditioner also promises to leave hair less prone to breakage when brushed but I didn’t notice any difference. Then again, I’ve never lost that much hair. I also don’t have any split ends nor was my hair damaged so I can’t say how well it works on damaged hair. But the formula is promising. It contains silicones, which can improve the appearance of damaged hair and seal split ends together so that they can’t be seen, and ceramides (2-oleamido-1,3-octadecanediol, synthetic replica of naturally occurring ceramides), which form a protective barrier on the hair to hold moisture in and protect it from damage (such as heat damage for instance). So, although nothing can repair damaged hair, this conditioner can improve its appearance, making it look healthy.
Available at: drugstores and supermarkets
L’Oreal Elvive Damage Care Repair Conditioner has a creamy, not too thick but not too runny, consistency that spreads easily throughout hair, leaving it soft, shiny and easy to comb and style. However, it doesn’t leave hair less prone to breakage. And while it is true that it can’t repair damaged hair, it does improve its appearance. Oh, it smells lovely too.
