Layla describes their Pure Eyeshadows as “light and sparkling powder that will color your eyelids gently” and I couldn’t agree more. If you’re into bold, intense and very pigmented sbades, these loose powders will disappoint you. But if you love a soft wash of color with lots of sparkle (and don’t mind a little fall out), these are for you.
I have had the chance to try 3 of the 8 shades available: N.2, a sheer pale gold with lots of gold glitters, N.4, a pale candy pink infused with fuchsia glitters and N.6, a bright medium blue chock full of blue and purple glitters. The shades have sheer to medium pigmentation (N.6 has the best color payoff) and are very soft and subtle. They are also very sparkly and are perfect in the summer when skin is tanned as they will illuminate the eyes without adding a lot of color. If you prefer a more intense effect, you can use a primer underneath to improve the color payoff.
They last a few good hours on my slightly oily lids without a primer, but one is still necessary if you wanna wear them for the whole day. But this is not a problem for me. Their biggest downside for me is how messy they are. Sure, all loose eyeshadows are messy but in this case, the powder is really light and just tends to end up everywhere. It is better to apply them by patting them on rather than by sweeping but still some fallout occurs.
And the packaging doesn’t help either. The Pure Eyeshadows come in cute little round pots. Instead than a sifter, the pots have quite a large hole in the middle which pours out too much product. And you have to be very careful to always store the pots in the right position or when you’ll open them, the powder will end up everywhere (which also means they are so not travel-friendly!!)!
I think the retail price (€11,50) is too high for these eyeshadows. I could maybe justify it more if they had a more practical packaging and some of the product didn’t get wasted because of it, but you can find them at a cheaper price in quite a lot of stores, which makes the purchase more convenient if you’re interested in these loose eyeshadows.

Layla Pure Eyeshadow in n.2, n.4 and n.6 are soft and glittery shades that add a wash of color to the eyes and make them sparkle beautifully. They work very well at enhancing darker or tanned complexions and are quite longlasting even without a primer. However, the unpractical packaging and the light texture of the powder makes application very messy and fall out does occur.
