Name: Smart Eye Pencil in Pearly Gold
From Kiko’s website:
Eye pencil. Soft and gliding stroke, easy to blend. The brilliant shades liven up the eyes for a sprightly look easy to create.
What I liked:
– beautiful shade
– good color payoff
– applies smoothly
– the price
What I didn’t like:
– tip is not very soft
– not longlasting
– can’t be used on the waterline
A little while ago I noticed that, despite the fact my collection of colored eyeliners is growing very quickly, I didn’t have any gold eyeliners yet. So I decided that I should remedy that as soon as possible and, being the cheapskate that I am, I opted for Kiko Smart Eye Pencil in Pearly Gold (there are 7 other shades available), which is only €2,50! That’s a bargain! But of course it doesn’t come without a catch, or two.
First off, the color. Pearly Gold has good color payoff which means that with one coat, you get an opaque but very soft line. Perfect for those that want a very subtle look, but I prefer something more intense so I just apply one or two more coats. Like the name says, Pearly Gold has a pearly finish that brightens and illuminates the eyes. The end result is very nice.
Like the other Kiko eye pencils I’ve tried, the tip is quite hard. While I still find that it glides on smoothly without tugging the skin, I would have preferred the consistency to be creamier. Oh and the Kiko Smart eye pencils are for external use only, so don’t apply them on your waterline.
Another thing. These pencils aren’t very longlasting and smudge quite easily, which means you’ll have to reapply it every few hours. Of course, a primer will help making them stay on longer, but I still think it’s best to use these eyeliners when you know you’re gonna be out only for a few hours. Overall, though I don’t think this eyeliner is really bad. You just get what you pay for really and for €2,50 one can’t complain too much.

Overall, Kiko Smart Eye Pencil in Pearly Gold is a pearly gold shade that looks very soft and natural but can be build up for more intensity. The tip is not very creamy but it still glides on quite easily. However, it only lasts a few hours before fading and smudging.
