At first sniff, Jour D’Hermes is understated, ethereal, even simple. It has two main accords: an undefined floral bouquet and a white musky base. But as it unfolds on your skin, you realise that this scent is full of surprises. Jour D’Hermes starts with a radiant blend of tarty grapefruit and a whiff of lemon sprinkled over a green, vegetable background. As they fade away, the floral notes become more prominent.
The flowers are so well-blended together that it is really difficult to distinguish them. It feels like you’re just entered into a garden in full bloom, when your nose is hit by the scents of so many flowers that you don’t really know what you’re smelling. But you know it’s good. And if you visit it every day, sooner that you even realize it, you start to identify them one by one.
A not-too-powdery rose was the only flower I could distinctly recognize straight away. But in the following days, I started getting whiffs of sweet pea, lily of the valley, jasmine, gardenia, ylang ylang, and tuberose. But that’s all they are. Subtle whiffs that you’ll catch when you least expect it and that go away just as quickly. This generic floral accord didn’t appeal to me at first, but I fell in love with it as I learned to recognized all its numerous, different facets.
The drydown is a sheer and sensual white musk note. The whole scent is sheer, almost ethereal, and yet it stubbornly hangs onto the skin, even after it has considerably softened after a couple of hours, for about 10 hours. Radiant and uplifting, Jour D’Hermes can easily be worn on hot summer days when you need an understated, elegant scent, but also on cold winter nights to remind you of the warm season that lies ahead. Although the perfume market is saturated with sheer floral scents at the moment, Jour D’Hermes is not one that can dismissed without giving it at least a sniff.

Jour D’Hermes is a sheer floral scent with a sensual musky base. Understated and elegant, it has excellent staying power. However, it won’t appeal to those who dislike sheer scents and undefined floral accords.
