Name: Arcane Magic Eyeshadows
Size: 3gr full size, 1/4 teaspoon sample size
Price: $6.35 full size, $2.00 sample size
From Fyrinnae’s website:
Fyrinnae’s Arcane Magic Eyeshadows are specialized colours with a highlight that changes hue depending on how the light hits it. These weigh approximately 3 grams (full size), and are packed in the same size jars as our regular eye shadow. The shadows can be used wet or dry, though we highly recommend using our Pixie Epoxy to keep shimmer and sparkle in place and intensify colour.
What I liked:
– beautiful complex colors that change when hit by light
– sample sizes are packaged in jars too
– the price
What I didn’t like:
– as with all loose eyeshadows, these can be a bit messy to apply
Before we start talking about the Arcane Magic Eyeshadows, let me tell you that I absolutely adore Fyrinnae. Everything I tried from this brand is absolutely amazing and as a result, I now want every product they make. I think I’d better start saving up now and thank goodness that their products are cheap!
Together with the Pixie Epoxy – wait, you still haven’t got that? What are you waiting for? If you wear eyeshadows you need the Pixie Epoxy! ‘Nuff said. – the Arcane Eyeshadows are among the very best products Fyrinnae makes. What is so special about these eyeshadows? They change color when the light hits them! And I don’t mean that the shade gets a bit darker or lighter, it completely changes color! Pretty cool, huh?
Of course the change depends on how close or far away you are to the light and I love how different my eyeshadow looks in the bright morning light and later on in the afternoon when the light starts getting dimmer. Unfortunately my stupid camera didn’t manage to capture how complex and beautiful the shades are, and they look even more gorgeous when swatched over the Pixie Epoxy. For better swatches, check out Anastasia’s blog.
These eyeshadows are available in 20 shades and the ones I have are:
Conjuror: a soft and shimmery shade that changes from aqua to burgundy
Dark fantasy: intense and shimmery grass green with a charcoal base, can become golden peach or orangey
Dragonmagic: shimmery charcoal that turns into a purplish blue or mid-green
Faerie Glamour: a purplish aqua shimmery shades that changes to pink
Mystic: shimmering pewter that can turn into lots of shades, from aqua to light green, from silver to pink ot lilac
Sorceress: almost black, shimmery shadow that turns into aqua, or lavender or rosy pink.
The other eyshadow shown in these pictures is Wizard’s apprentice, but I can’t find it anymore so I think it might have been discounted. Shame, cos the color was pretty. But since I made my order a few months ago, Fyrinnae introduced some brighter and colorful shades in the Arcane Magic line that I can’t wait to try.
All of the eyeshadows are very pigmented (swatches were done with only one swipe on bare skin) and have a soft texture. Their are not as creamy as Gosh pigments, but they’re not gritty either, and are easy to blend. In addition, they are fairly longlasting and last most of the day on my lids, which aren’t that oily, even without a primer. The only downside is that, as with all loose pigments, application can be a bit messy, and although some fall out can occurr, it is very minimal.
Another thing about Fyrinnae that I love is that even sample sizes come packaged in small circular jars, instead of those annoying plastic bags. It’s much easier to use the pigments this way, application is a lot less messy and less product gets wasted when you pick it up. I think every company should follow their example. Sure, this may slightly increase the price of samples, but I’d gladly pay just a little bit more for much much more practical packaging!

Overall, Fyrinnae Arcane Magic Eyeshadows are among the very best I’ve ever tried. Pigmented and longlasting, these eyeshadows are unique and complex as they change color depending on the proximity to the light. Even samples come packaged in small and practical jars and are inexpensive. And did I mention that shipping is free on all orders of $20 or more worldwide?
