Name: Deborah 24 Ore (hours) Pencil Eyeliner
From Deborah’s website:
This pencil eyeliner has a comfortable texture that highlights the outer ridges of the eyes with precision, ensuring an impeccable longlasting application.
What I liked:
– easy to remove
– doesn’t irritate eyes
– the packaging
– the price
What I didn’t like:
– not pigmented
– not long-lasting
– smudges on oily skin
My latest makeup obsession is colored eyeliners. They’re beautiful, fun and can really spice up any makeup look. I’ve started building a small collection of them during the past months and to do that, I’ve been reading online reviews to see what liners people recommended.
I didn’t want to spend a lot of money and a cheap eyeliner everyone seemed to love was Deborah 24 Ore (Hours) pencil liner. What convinced me to get it was that, not only the color was said to be intense, but it was also supposed to last long even on the waterline.
So, I went to the store to have a proper look at the range shade, which is pretty limited. There are only six colors available: black, blue, purple and three different shades of green. I didn’t have a purple liner in my stash at the time, so I choose that shade and hurried home to try it properly. I couldn’t wait, I was really excited!
Unfortunately, I was soon to be disappointed. When I applied the first coat of liner, I couldn’t see any color. It looked like I hadn’t applied anything. This stuff is not pigmented, AT ALL, and even after six or seven coats getting a decent opaque line is impossible!
Pigmentation (or lack of) isn’t the only problem with the pencil. The staying power is very poor too. On the waterline, it lasts just about 5 minutes and on my lid, even when I wear a primer, it starts fading after about a couple of hours. Also, if you have oily lids, this will smudge on you.
However, not everything about this liner is bad. It has a soft (but not too soft) tip that would allow for precise application if only you could get the color to show and it doesn’t irritate nor burn eyes. Unfortunately that’s not enough to make up for lack of pigmentation and staying power though.
Overall, this was a just a waste of (luckily not too much) money, but after all the rave reviews, I’m left wondering. Did the eyeliner I got come from a bad batch? Is it just the purple shade that is crap while the others are, if not more long-lasting, at least more pigmented and intense?
Or more simply, this liner just doesn’t work for me? After all, not all beauty products, however good they are, work for everybody. Part of me is tempted to purchase this in another shade, maybe black, and see how it compares, but I just can’t bring myself to do it in case I’m disappointed again.
Overall, Deborah 24 Ore Pencil Eyeliner was a huge disappointed. It doesn’t last 24 hours, like claimed, but you need to retouch after just a couple of hours and the shade is not pigmented. Oh, and it smudges too. However, it has a soft point, doesn’t irritate eyes and it’s cheap.
