Name: Evolution To Revolution Black Volume Mascara
From Catrice’s website:
The classic twist mascara is yesterday’s news – it’s time for a revolution! One brush, two separate brush-stripping systems – with the CATRICE Evolution To Revolution Mascara, you are sure to create just the right look for every occasion: the slim brush-stripper offers classic lash volume for every day as it picks up less texture while the larger brush-stripper captures more texture for ultra volume and glamour! One for all – for made-to-measure lash style.
What I liked:
– if you want a natural daytime look, you may like this
– longlasting, doesn’t smudge nor flake
– the price
What I didn’t like:
– Look 1 doesn’t do anything for the lashes
– Look 2 promises drama, but only delivers a natural look suitable for the daytime
– the wand doesn’t separate lashes well
Evolution To Revolution is such a daunting name to live up to, isn’t it? It excites expectations of innovation, change and novelty. When it comes to mascara, that could mean a weird-shaped wand or some new ingredient that can make your eyelashes effortlessly look fake and dramatic, longer and thicker than any other mascara has so far been able to deliver.
Had it been so, Catrice Evolution To Revolution Black Volume Mascara would have created a sensation in the beauty world. Instead, it barely made a ripple. And, when put to the test, it is easy to understand why. This is simply a gimmicky mascara that doesn’t even work that well. Maybe that’s why it’s being discontinued, so if you’re interested in trying it, do so now. But I don’t recommend it.
Catrice Evolution To Revolution Mascara promises to be 2 mascaras in 1. If you want a daytime mascara, unscrew the tube from its very top (where it says Look 1), while for a more dramatic effect, unscrew the lower cap (where it says Look 2) . This may lead you to believe, like I did, that this mascara has two wands, but no. The wand is the same, but the sifter is different. When you go for Look 1, the wand simply picks up less product, thus providing a subtler look.
So subtle that you can barely notice you’ve applied it, as you can see from the pictures above. My lashes look darker but that’s it. It didn’t add length, volume, curl… nothing. I didn’t expect anything dramatic considering that this is supposed to give your lashes a natural look suitable for the daytime, but this is way too natural. Unless you’re blessed with naturally long and thick eyelashes, I’m not sure who would ever want to go for this look.
But there’s always Look 2, right? Mmmm. This is supposed to give your lashes some serious drama, but it just looks like Look 1 was supposed to look like. My lashes look a bit longer and thicker, but the result is still quite natural. Besides, that little volume was achieved by clumping lashes together. But I wouldn’t say this is a clumpy mascara. It just has a wand that’s not good at separating lashes. You’d need to use an eyelash comb for definition, which would make your lashes look even more natural. But if you like the look, you’ll be happy to know it will last all day without smudging nor flaking.

Catrice Evolution To Revolution Black Volume Mascara has two separate brush-stripping systems which, in theory, should allow you to create both natural and dramatic looks. In practice, the natural look is way too subtle and the dramatic look isn’t dramatic at all. All you’re gonna get from this mascara is a basic and natural daytime look that will, however, stay put from morning to evening.
