Name: Stay There Eyeshadow in Collie
Brand: Bare Escentuals Buxom
From Bare Escentuals’ website:
Vibrant, lively, buildable eyeshadow in a waterproof formula with a non-greasy, long-wearing finish
What I liked:
– sheer but buildable colour payoff
– has a frosty sheen that beautifully illuminates the eyes, highlights the browbone and makes you look more awake
– creamy/powdery/moussey texture is soft to the touch and easy to blend
– dries drown quickly into a powdery finish
– once set, it just won’t budge for at least 8 hours (even on oily lids, and without a primer!)
– cute packaging
What I didn’t like:
– some people may be disappointed by its sheerness
My lids are somewhat oily, so whenever I try a new cream or mousse eyeshadow, I always sternly tell it to “stay there and don’t budge, ok?” (please tell me I’m not the only one who talks to cosmetics, ahem). But they almost never listen. An hour later, I’d gaze in the mirror and find they have melted and completely ruined my look, leaving me no choice but to take everything off. So, despite its name, I didn’t have much hope that Buxom Stay There Eyeshadow in Collie (which was part of a set sent me by my friend Janessa) would stay put for long.
But it did. Summer has arrived in full blast here. June is more than making up for how cold and rainy it was in May. Now, the weather is always sunny and sweltering hot, and it’s quite unbearable. Most days, I’m literally melting away, yet Buxom Stay There Eyeshadow in Collie won’t budge from my lids. Not even when I don’t use a primer. I don’t know how it does it, but it does. And it’s true that it will start creasing just a tiny bit after 8 hours of wear, but that’s still very impressive in my book.
The colour itself, Collie, is perfect for summer as well. It is a shimmering peachy gold with a frosty sheen and sheer colour payoff. You can try and build the colour up, but it will always remain really soft and subtle, which in this case is a good thing. Collie is perfect to highlight the browbone or the inner corners of your eyes to make them look more wide, but I also like it to use it as a wash of colour on the lids on those morning when I need a pick-me-up shade that will make me look more awake, which is happening quite often lately. It’s so hard to get a good night’s sleep in this heat!
The formula is lovely. It is a cross between a cream, a powder and a mousse. It’s very lightweight. soft to the touch and blends effortlessly. You can apply it with a stiff and dense flat eyeshadow brush for a more precise application, but I prefer to use my fingers. I get better results that way. Once applied, it dries down quickly into a smooth powdery finish, giving a luminous touch to your eyes. Overall, I’m very impressed with this eyeshadow and I can’t wait to try more shades!
