If you have pale skin, blush can be your best friend or your worst enemy. Blush is what makes the difference between looking fresh and rested and looking ill and tired. But, if it’s too pigmented, it can make you resemble Pennywise The Dancing Clown.
That’s why I always breathe a sigh of relief when I come across a sheer blush. The latest one to join my collection is MustaeV Cheeky Chic Blush in Floral Glow, a delicate peachy pink with warm undertones and a matte finish.
Floral Glow is so sheer, I have to apply it with a dense brush. When I tried to use a fluffy blush, like I normally do, it picked up too little product, and I needed to seriously layer it to even get the colour to show up on my pale skin.
With a denser brush, on the other hand, a couple of swipes are enough to achieve the intensity I desire – a healthy rose that doesn’t scare children away. It’s one of those shades that warms and brightens up the whole face, and just makes you look better. Even so, I know the sheerness will be a deal-breaker for some of you.
I also adore the texture. This is by far the smoothest, silkiest blush I’ve ever tried. Sometimes, when I use it, I swipe my finger all over it just for the sake of it. I know it’s SO weird, but it feels so good, too. Because it’s so smooth, it also blends like a dream. No harsh lines with this one – it’s literally foolproof!
Staying power is also good. I get about 8 hours of wear before it starts to slowly fade. Although I have dry cheeks, I think it will last almost as long on oily skin. That’s because it contains a generous amount of silica, which absorbs excess oil on the skin.
So, if you’re pale and oily, Floral Glow has your name written all over it. Don’t let the name fool you. It’s called Glow but, as I said it’s matte. No shimmers whatsoever. It’s the colour, not the finish, that brightens up the face, if that makes sense. Although, I can’t help but wish it had a few shimmers here and there. What can I say? I’m a total magpie.
