Melkior Eyeliner & Kohl In Black, My Latest Foreign Discovery

melkior eyeliner kohl 01

The first thing I do when I visit a new country? Check out the beauty counters, of course! It’s such a fun way to discover amazing new beauty products and brands not available in my neck of the woods. My latest discovery?

Melkior. This Romanian brand, which my friend Tavia of Chic Profile introduced me to last December when I went to visit her in Bucharest, is the brainchild of two friends who wanted every woman to have access to professional products so they could be, and feel, irresistible. Think of it as the MAC of Eastern Europe.

As I wait for Melkior to finally come to the UK (I’m told they have plans to open a store in London this year), I brought home a few products with me. Today I want to tell you all about their Eyeliner & Kohl Pencil in Black.

First off, the colour. The black is a true black, and pretty intense too. One coat is more than enough to create an opaque, defined line that makes my eyes stand out. I find it a bit too harsh against my pale skin for daytime looks, but I love to wear it at night for a romantic date or dinner and drinks with friends.

Its creamy texture glides smoothly on the lids, too. No tugging or pulling here. Easy to smudge when just applied, it soon settles down and refuses to budge. I tried it without a primer, and it lasts about 8 hours on my lids before it began to fade.

On my waterline, I’m sad to say, it didn’t even last one hour. But, then, kohl pencils never last long there, do they? I don’t particularly mind. I have small eyes, so I never apply a dark colour on my waterline (unless I need to test it for a review, of course), as that makes them look even smaller.

Overall, I’m very impressed with this eyeliner, and can’t wait for Melkior to come to London, so I can discover the whole range at my leisure. If everything is like this eyeliner, bring it on!

THE BOTTOM LINE

Pros: Intense black colour; Good colour payoff; Creamy texture, glides smoothly on the lids; Longlasting.

Cons: Doesn’t last long on the waterline.

Summary: Melkior Eyeliner & Kohl Pencil in Black is a pigmented and creamy rich black that boldly defines the eyes for hours. But it disappears pretty quickly from the waterline.

Price & Availability: 19,90 lei at Melkior

Rating: 4/5
