What it is about purples that makes them so sheer?
Have you noticed that, too? Sure, you can find plenty of sheer browns, pinks, or greens, but when it comes to purples, sometimes, sheer seems to be the only thing you’re getting.
I was thinking about this as I was painting my nails with Mavala Copper Violet. One of the reasons why I love Mavala nail polishes is that, usually, one coat is all I need. I may apply two just to even things out, but that’s it.
So, I was a bit surprised, and not exactly in a good way, when Copper Violet took three coats (three, people!) to become fully opaque and as bright as it looks in its tiny cute bottle. That’s more hassle than most nail polishes are usually worth it.
I honestly don’t remember the last time I used a nail polish that required three coats more than once, but I’ve already worn Copper Violet three times. If you want to know why I bother with it, just look at the photos. This shade is absolutely gorgeous.
The medium purple with copper accents is so bright, while the multicoloured shimmers add a fun and vibrant touch that make it come alive when hit by light. I’m in love.
Because of the metallic finish, Copper Violet streaks a bit. That’s another reason why it’s best to use three coats. The last one smoothens everything out, making your nails look great for at least 3 or 4 days (depending on how hard you are on them).
Even though I have to apply more coats than usual, Copper Violet dries incredibly fast. At least that’s one thing that is consistent across all the Mavala range.
