If I were a Disney princess, I’d be Belle.
As much as I love sweet Cinderella and go-getter Ariel, I could never relate much to them. There’s no way I could be that nice to anyone who’s determined to make my life a living hell and making a pact with a nasty witch to win the love of a perfect stranger seems totally crazy to me.
Not that being kidnapped and held prisoner by a brutal beast is my idea of fun, either. But, Belle is an avid reader, like me. The odd one out in her small village, like me. The adventurer-at-heart who knows there’s more out there and yearns for the day she’ll be able to leave her home and live her life to the full, like me. Oh, she’s also allergic to boorish idiots who haven’t opened a book since they’ve left school, like me.
See, we’re practically twins. I should totally have played Belle in the new Disney’s movie Beauty And The Beast. But, I can’t act to save my life, so I was more than happy to leave the honour to the awesome Emma Watson.
I’ll console myself with The Beauty And The Beast Box by Latest In Beauty. To celebrate the launch of they movie, they’ve curated a stunning LE Beauty Box, featuring makeup, skincare and haircare products inspired by the fairytale.
Here’s what you can find inside:
- Burt’s Bees Lipstick Blush Basin or Sunset (4g)
- Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet (10ml)
- Gatineau Radiance Enhancing Gommage (75ml)
- Latest In Beauty Gold Compact Mirror
- L’Occitane Roses & Reines Hand & Nail Creme (10ml)
- Oribe Gold Dust Dry Shampoo (43ml)
- Soigne’ Betteraves Rouges Nail Polish (10ml)
I haven’t had the box long enough to test all the products properly (if I waited that long, it wouldn’t be available anymore!), but here are my first impressions.
Burt’s Bees Lipstick in Blush Basin
I totally love the packaging. It looks like a hive, which is pretty cool.
The lipstick inside ain’t bad, either. I’ve got Blush Basin, a sheer peachy pink with a lovely sheen. It’s fairly moisturizing, too.
It’s the perfect everyday shade that can take you from the office in the morning to a party at night – if you don’t mind reapplying it. It lasts only a couple of hours on me (to be fair, most lippies only last a couple of hours on me).
Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet
Caudalie has a knack for creating the most lightweight of textures even when they use the thickest of ingredients, like shea butter.
This cream has a gel-like texture that absorbs quickly into the skin and makes it softer and smoother. My skin tends to get drier in winter so this may not be the best cream to use at this time of the year. But for summer, it’d work really well. If you have oily skin, you can use it all year round, obvs.
Like all Caudalie creams, it’s enriched with grape extract, which is rich in resveratrol, an antioxidant that fights off premature wrinkles.
Gatineau Radiance Enhancing Gommage
I’m on the fence with this one. It’s an exfoliator with a luxurious balm-like texture that turns into an oil when applied on the skin. Once there, it uses a combination of AHAs (including glycolic and lactic acids) and enzymes (derived from bacillus ferment) to remove dead skin cells.
The problem? Their concentrations are quite small. Plus, enzymes are very unstable and they could stop working at any time. So, not the most effective exfoliator I’ve tried. It may be suitable for sensitive skin who usually reacts badly to exfoliation. But, I definitely need to use this a bit longer before giving it a final verdict.
Latest In Beauty Hold Compact Mirror
The prettiest mirror I own. Period.
I know, super short review, but there isn’t that much to say about a mirror. It’s pretty. It fits well in your pursue. It helps you see what you’re doing when you’re applying makeup so you don’t end up looking like a clown.
Need I mention anything else?
L’Occitane Roses & Reines Hand & Nail Creme
I want to use this forever just for the rose scent. It’s gorgeous. Powdery and feminine but without evoking pictures of my granny.
It’s pretty lightweight and absorbs easily. I was a bit surprised about that because it’s loaded with shea butter, which is pretty thick and super moisturizing.
I guess the lightweight texture gets in the way of that because it leaves my hands soft and smooth indeed, but only for a few hours. Not everyone has hands as dry as the Sahara ALL YEAR ROUND, though.
For most of you, this’ll do very well.
Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo
This is a godsend for oily hair. Now that I’ve moved to London, I’d have to wash it every single day if it weren’t for dry shampoos.
This one does the job pretty well. It uses aluminum starch octenylsuccinate to absorb excess oil and make your hair look decent enough to get out of the house without people wondering when was the last time you took a shower.
That’s how you know a dry shampoo works.
Soigne’ Betteraves Rouge Nail Polish
I’m wearing this deep and sultry red as I’m typing this. The colour is timeless, beautiful and makes me feel so sophisticated.
The formula’s lovely too. It went on smoothly without streaking and bubbling, was opaque in two coats and dried in just a few minutes.
I’ve only been wearing it for a couple of days (without a top coat) and it hasn’t chipped, yet. So far, all’s good.
Inside, you’ll also found discount codes for Soigne’, Caudalie, L’Occitane, Burt’s Bees and Gatineau.
And do we want to talk about the box, ladies? That’s a goodie in itself. It looks like a book and when you’re done with the products you can use it to store whatever else you want. Cool, huh?
The Beast Box For The Boys
If you know a man who’s as obsessed with beauty as you (I don’t, but you may have more luck 😉 ), let him know there’s a box for him, too.
The Beast Box contains:

- The Refinery Shave Foam Gel
