What it is
Alcohol Denat. is the general name used for denatured alcohol. That’s the alcohol found in alcoholic beverages to which a small amount of a denaturant (generally a bittering agent) is added to make it taste bad so that it won’t be drunk.
What it does
Alcohol Denat. is used in cosmetic products as an antifoaming agent either to suppress foam during manufacturing or to reduce the tendency of finished products to generate foam.
It is also used to thin formulations and enhance the penetration of ingredients into the skin.
