Can you believe it’s December already?
And that means it’ll soon be time to PARTYYYY! I so can’t wait for all the Christmas and New Year celebrations about to start. 2016 is a very bittersweet year for me and I can’t wait to put all the negativity behind me and start afresh.
In style, too. I want to look my best this party season so I have a lot of prepping to do. You know, hair, nails, skincare, makeup… the works. Looking good takes a lot of work and time time.
And that’s just exactly what I lack… time. There are SO many salons in London, who has the time to research them all and find a good place? Somewhere they completely pamper you, not one of those dodgy places where they don’t even change nail file for a new client. Ewwww!
Enter Book Your Lifestyle
Book Your Lifestyle is a cool new website where you can book all the beauty treatments your heart desires and your body needs at salons near where you live. All the salons on there have already been vetted by the team, so you won’t have any nasty surprises when you turn up.
Here’s how it works. You go to the website, type in the treatment you want and where you live, and it’ll turn up a list of places you can choose from. Each salon has its own in-depth profile with everything you need to know before booking, a good quality photo so you can have a sneak peak of what’s in store for you, a handy map so you hopefully won’t get lost on your way there, and, of course, a list of all available treatments there.
In just 10 minutes, I booked a luxury manicure at Backstage Beauty (£25.00) and an Elemis Face & Body Sensation (facial + back massage) at Aurora Wellbeing (£75.00). Yep, you can totally book different treatments, at different locations, and on different days at the same time.
You can pay through Book Your Lifestyle when you book your appointment too, so on the day, you can just go in and enjoy your treatment without thinking about money. But, if you’re the kind of person who prefers to pay after you’ve had your treatment, that’s an option, too.
So, the website is SO easy to use. But how well are the salons vetted? Do they really live up to the hype?
Luxury Manicure At Backstage Beauty
First stop, was Backstage Beauty, a beauty salon a stone’s thrown away from Oxford Street. I chose it cos it’s so easy to get there. At least, it should have been. It took me 20 minutes to find the place!
Book Your Lifestyle said it was on South Molton Street, so of course, I headed straight to South Molton Lane. It’s an automatic reaction these days. For those of you who don’t live in London, South Molton Lane is where all the best sample sales are. That’s where I do all my shopping these days so when you mention South Molton, there’s where my feet automatically take me. Ahem.
South Molton Lane is a short street, yet it took me 15 minutes to figure out my mistake. And when I did and went to the right place (the two streets are parallel to each other), no one was there! I had to call them and, what do you know, the salon has transferred to Avery Row that very morning! Just my luck.
Luckily, that was just 5 minutes away. The place was still a very pretty work in progress but the staff is so friendly and professional. But in the confusion, they had mixed up my appointment and wanted to give me a blowdry rather than a manicure!
So, yeah, it took a while but in the end, I got my perfect manicure complete with the most relaxing hand massage. I spend most of my day typing away at a computer (it’s a lot more fun than it seems, really) so my hand and nails were a bit worse for wear. But 50 minutes later, they were transformed.
My cuticles were no more. Those little stumps of flesh around the nail bed had disappeared, too. My dry hands had become soft again. Now these are hands I can proudly show off at an holiday party!
I forgot the name of the colour I chose – duh! – but it’s a bright fuchsia from Opi. As I’m typing this a week later, it only chipped slightly on two nails. Good job!
At the end of it, the lovely lady who did my nails even helped me put my coat back on so I wouldn’t ruin my brand new manicure. So, yeah, I felt as pampered as a princess during the whole thing.
I’m thinking of going back before New Year’s Eve for a sparkling glitter manicure. Can you think of anything moire festive than that?
Elemis Face & Body Sensation at Aurora Wellbeing
This one was very easy to find. It’s located at Park Plaza Sherlock Holmes, a four star hotel where I had already been for tea with friends. Ah!
I choose this treatment because the end of the year is always stressful. Work always seems to pile up around this time. And you still want to see your friends and family as much as possible. But you also have to go shopping and get them a decent present. And then the round of parties will start…
So, what a better way to get in the holiday mood than a relaxing massage to take the stress away coupled with a relaxing facial to make you glow brighter than a star under those Christmas lights? I had you at massage, didn’t I? The facial’s just a plus. 🙂
So, yeah, the spa is small but cozy and the therapist absolutely lovely. We started off with the back massage followed by the facial. I was so relaxed I almost fell asleep! But I remember the gorgeous scent of the massage oils she used (gosh, is Elemis good at those!) and how bright my skin was afterwards. I just want to be back every day.
You know what’s better than a pampering treatment? A free pampering treatment! And this December, you can win many of those.
Every day from 1st to 24th December, Book Your Lifestyle is giving away a glamorous treatment at top London hair salons, nail salons, and spas. For more info on how to enter, click here.
Good luck and happy #Glitzmas2016!
