I may be a brights lover, but there’s something to be said about a classic neutral eyeshadow palette. Neutral shades are timeless, universally flattering, and so easy to blend. Seriously, it can take me 20 minutes to blend a bright pink with a navy blue, but two browns? I’m done in less than two minutes.
That’s why I reach for Becca Ombre Nudes Eye Palette so much these frantic days. The long, sleek case features an in-built mirror and five neutral eyeshadows, all with a matte finish, that will easily take you from a morning meeting with a client to a night of fun and drinks with friends – and everywhere in between.
The five shades, all of which have grey undertones, form a beautiful brown gradient. It starts with a pale, fresh-coloured hue, which gets browner and darker as you reach the last shade. Because they’re so similar, and have such a smooth texture (only the darkest shade is slightly powdery), the shades blend effortlessly. You could ask your five year old, or even your husband, to do your eye makeup with this, and 99% of the time, it’ll turn out amazing and flawless.
The other 1%? Well, again, because the shades are so similar, they have the tendency to get a bit muddy when you overblend them. But, the chances of doing that are really, really small. These don’t really need that much blending, making them ideal for busy women-on-the-go and newbie teenagers alike.
All the shades have good colour payoff too, so you don’t have to layer, and layer, and layer to get them to show up. And they last all day, if used with a primer (if not, why not? Do you enjoy retouching your makeup every 4 to 6 hours or so?). Without, about seven hours, but then, my lids aren’t particularly oily.
The only issue, if I can so call it, I have with this palette is its dupability. None of the shades are particularly unique, and you could easily find something similar at the drugstore. But, if you don’t mind the splurge, Becca Ombre Nudes Eye Palette is a wonderful go-to-palette that you’ll use again, and again, and again.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Pros: Timeless and matte shades; Good colour payoff; Smooth texture, blends like a dream; Last all day when used with a primer; Chic case comes with an in-built mirror.
Cons: The darkest shade is slightly powdery; Shades are easily dupable.
Summary: Becca Ombre Nudes Eye Palette features 5 matte neutral shades with good payoff and a smooth texture that allow anyone to create beautiful and timeless looks quickly and easily. But, they’re easy to dupe.
